More and more young people are buying flowers. This is according to research by Royal FloraHolland. The number of young people buying them has risen by six percent in the last five years.

Young people between the ages of 18 and 29 buy more flowers in particular. That group now accounts for 23% of total sales. An increase of four percent compared to five years ago. Young people prefer to get their bouquets from the florist, says florist branch organization VBW.

"Pick bouquets" and seasonal flowers popular

“We see that young people like to come to the florist. So-called "picking bouquets" with seasonal flowers are clearly preferred. The traditional bouquets appeal less to young people, "says Marco Maasse, director of VBW. "Special flowers and plants, the right experience on the shop floor plus knowledge, craftsmanship and in part convenience (tailor-made bouquets) are important reasons for young people to go to the florist."
